Very scarce Elgin "Aztec" men's Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel, circa 1931.

Elgin catalogued this watch as the “Senior 952” but its fantastic geometric Art Deco bezel designs reminiscent of the carvings on ancient Aztec temples in Mexico has inspired most collectors to call it the “Aztec.” It was priced at $25.00 in 1931. It is a very difficult watch to find and is among the most desirable of all Art Deco styled Elgin wristwatches. This example is in excellent condition showing light wear to the chromium plating on the bezel. The caseback is very good, with some light scratches and a couple of small dings.  The case measures 35mm long and 25mm wide. Original dial is excellent. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by a 17-jewel Elgin grade 483 manual wind movement, an upgrade from the usual 7-jewel movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $1,000. SOLD
