Elgin "Jobber Stepped Deco Case" men's Art Deco design wristwatch in 10K yellow rolled gold plate, circa 1936.
The smaller-sized jobber-made case is one of the many designs offered by mail-order jewelers to re-purpose Elgin movements. It houses an Elgin 18/0-size movement with an inlaid enamel dial with fantastic Egyptian Revival style numerals. It is excellent condition with some light overall brassing to the highpoints of the bezel. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with a thin ling of brassing along one edge. The case measures 38mm long and 21mm wide. Original inlaid enamel is excellent. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by a 7-jewel Elgin grade 488 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong. The watch has a 1/2-inch lug width.
