Rare Hamilton “Military Wrist Watch” men's Moderne design wristwatch in sterling silver, circa 1918.
Hamilton introduced this cushion case version of its 0-size wristwatch in October of 1918 as the “Military Wrist Watch.” Only 652 were produced with the 983 movement from October 1918 to April 1919, when it was replaced by the 981 version. This example is in excellent condition with the correct Fahys sterling silver case showing only light wear and a few light marks to the sterling silver case. Case is unpolished and shows a soft, patinated vintage finish. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 33mm long and 40mm wide. Original glass enamel dial is excellent, with some hairline cracks. Vintage beveled glass crystal is superb. This watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel, Hamilton grade 983 adjusted manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong. Has period white gold-filled winding crown.
